Early this morning, a refreshingly pleasant woman gave me a brand new name! That’s right. I was reading a comment she posted to a previous article and she referred to me as ‘Rich Queen Dianna’ (I think I could get used to that!)
Now, I must admit, I’ve been called many things, but that isn’t one of them. However, when I read it, I smiled. You know why? Because it’s always nice to hear someone speak positive, uplifting and affirming words.
I wonder; what have you been called? Has it been primarily good or bad? How has it affected you? It’s important to think about it because names carry significance. In the Bible, the destiny and character of a person was tied to their name. I believe this is still true today.
And no, I’m not talking about your literal name. In contrast, I’m focusing on the ramifications of years of negative labels that may have been attached to you like: Ugly, fat, stupid, loser, lazy, goofy, awkward . . . and a myriad of other hurtful insults.
Perhaps, you were never regarded as the pretty one, the nice one, the smart one, the talented one . . . or the one worthy of a name fit for a queen. But today, I’m here to tell you; I don’t care what others have said about you, you are a ‘Rich Queen.’
God has great plans in store for your life. But, you have to get rid of all the negativity. Cleanse yourself of debilitating beliefs rooted in lies and distorted perspectives. Own the fact that you are not defined by how people see you, what they say about you, or what they think of you. All that matters is what God says about you.
You see, unless you consciously and consistently reject all negative misrepresentations of your character, you give them power to diminish your value. As a result, you become limited in your psyche, which then inhibits your ability to carry out God’s purpose for your life. If you change your mind, you’ll change your life.
Remember the quote for today: ‘Labels cannot attach themselves to you unless you agree to wear them.’ So, right now, I want you to strip off that old, negative label, find a new ‘name brand’ that reflects your priceless value and beauty.
For now, begin with the new name Rhonda White gave to me . . . ‘Rich Queen.’ Thanks Rhonda.
Until next time . . . may you be empowered to prosper!
